 I'm confused by this statement.

 AFAIK, you can still turn Off most of that crap.
I know that my Win95 has most of it prompt me, and
I usually say NO!!! I could set it to just not do
it at all; but once in a while, I need the crap to
run (like Acrobat Reader).

 Do later versions of Windows disallow turning the
crap Off?
