That would work.  You could also put a "shim" in the hole before you screw it 
in.  An appropriately sized sliver of a matchstick would work (PLEASE remove 
the phosphorous first).  Even a folded piece of paper.
If you go the Elmer's route, don't tighten it until after the glue has dried.
