MN> That's the way it is in the state of Oregon. I can't say anything
MN> about the part concerning crossing state lines but I can tell you it
MN> is legal to record any phone conversation as long as one of the
MN> parties involved is a participant in the call.
MN> Laws are funny though. Recently here in Portland, Police accidently
MN> stumbled on a Tanning Salon owner who had hidden cameras set up to
MN> video tape clients undressing to get an "all over tan". Much to
MN> everyone's surprise (including the culprit) this was not illegal to
MN> do with out consent. The police ended up looking through the videos
MN> in hopes of finding to people in the same booth area or different
MN> booths talking to each other. Then and only then, would they have
MN> something they could arrest someone for.
MN> Civil laws are a little different, and I am happy to say the owner
MN> of the Tanning Salon, has over twenty women suing him. My guess is
MN> that they will probably win, although the paper reports the guy has
MN> few assets and no insurance.
Apparently there are laws concerning doing that if the
person being taped is under 18. They were hoping to find a
couple of underage to procecute on.
