The Windows software might let you use it as a phone dialer - I don't 
know. The difference between your land line modem and your WAN 
capability on your cell phone is that the former uses the POTS, which is 
a standard, where the latter can be one of several different networks, 
as I was alluding to in my last message.

And your bulletin boards had a traditional POTS interface - I used them 
too. Your data capability on the cell phone is all going to be TCP/IP, 
almost guaranteed.
