Hard to tell when the computer's locked up.

Hey, answering this one makes me feel like I'm the little kid on the
AOL commercial beating the mouse with the hammer! Enough taps I might
accidently hit something right. :-) (or screw it up worse)

If I remember, I think my maxtor came with some kind of preformat that
caused it to seem OK at first when I installed it in my system. I'd be
curious if it wasn't too much trouble for you to disconnect or turn off
the SCSI interface and just see what the ECS boot CD defines the ATA
drives first off. Maybe you could throw in a large logical partition on
each one then plug the SCSI back in, boot your usual way and see what
happens.
There must be an accessable bios somewhere to set the IDE HDDs. It
usually has a way to either auto detect IDE drives, or set their
parameters manually. There is standard which will show the drive
exactly as it is, say 43000 cylinders, 16 heads. Then LBA which would
list a multiple of x cylinders and 255 heads. Then large with something
else defined. (I haven't written down my bios results so no one tell me
my numbers are weird-I know they are). Without LBA win98 could not
figure out the 80 gig drive.
