-> Well, do what my Thurs night skipper does... He's got at least 4
-> other smaller boats in "reserve"! Then, too, he is looking for a
-> bigger boat as well.
Dan: The last time I was in a smaller sailboat was a VERY long time
ago, I don't know what it was called! Reinforced styrofoam, centerboard
with a main sail, and maybe about 8-9 feet long. The only time it really
sailed was downwind, and the bow had a bad tendency to plow in the water
and weight on the stern was needed to prevent turning it into a floating
bathtub.
-> Have you considered putting a post between the topedeck and the kell?
-> It will take out some interior room, but it may help make for a
-> stronger rig...
Can't do it, the head and holding tank are in the way. It would also
complicate installing the mast, and some sort of outside cylinder would
be needed to lengthen the mast. I would think that would be a MAJOR
modification. To simply re-enforce the affected area would probably cost
a little over a $100.00 (stainless steel and bending them), $20-30.00
for miscellaneous parts, resins etc.
- > This is true! BTW, ever come up with a good wax? I've been
-> selling Mother's Carnuba, as it's pure carnuba. Others have
-> petrolium in it and I would put them on my car, let alone my
-> boat. From what I've seen, it lasts quite well, though it's
-> not the easiest to apply.
I have some Formula 2000 paste wax, commercials say fiberglass boats:
and I understand it is not very abrasive. Carnuba wax is a natural wax
and I am a little leary of it washing off over time. On cars Formula
2000 is one of those once-a-year wax.
