-> be a good feed without me making long distance phone calls, and
-> unfortunately there's no $ for that. Like always, I'll do the best I
-> can.
I certainly understand THAT! Good feeds are a blessing! (I've had both
kinds )
-> they are not the original ones. If anyone can dig into their archives
-> from several years ago, I'd really like to get a copy of Don's
-> official founding rules.
They're good enough though. Just need to show the flag regularly. I
have archives of all sorts of things, but unfortunately Don's rules are
not among 'em.
-> What we need is more publicity. How about posting messages in
-> like-minded echos and newsgroups. Anyone want to help out with this?
We do a little of that in OLD_ENGINE pretty regulalrly. After all,
OLD_ENGINE originated in HOMEPOWR!
-> helping to keep it alive. I must confess that I know almost nothing
-> about fidonet and its rules and regs, and even less about how to
-> twist the arm of my feed to keep him regular.
Well, since Fido IS a volunteer network and no one can FORCE anyone to
do anything it's more a matter of polite insistance when things get
sloppy. IF your feed does get flakey your NEC (or REC if it goes that
far) can either re-route you or ask the offending node to shape up. I
guess persistance is the most important facet of keeping things flowing.
Feel free to send me routed netmail for specific problems. I'll also
volunteer Jim Dunmyer as a MOST helpful and experienced ally. He was of
immeasurable assitance when I was backboning O_E.
