No, not promising at all. From what I'm reading Ubuntu installs
easier due to a GUI installer but after that it's claimed to be
_more_ difficult to use and the auto-installer of additional
software (utilities?) often requires manual reconfiguration
afterwards and is even said to 'hose' the machine at times. 

Didn't sound 'good' to me. :-(
