Here's a reprint from a September 12, 2002 Newsletter:
I was the first grandchild in our family, so, when I was little, my
grandparents would take a special photo of me each year and have it
reproduced in 8 x 10 size. These were framed and given to my uncles and
aunts as gifts. A while back, my husband and I were browsing an antique
shop about 30 miles from our home. I turned a corner, and there, sitting
on a dresser was the photo taken of me when I was 6 years old! I
immediately started to cry...there were so many memories in that photo!
The lady who owned the shop kept looking at the photo and at me and saying
how much I looked like my old picture. (I took that as a
compliment...after all, it was that or be depressed about finding my
childhood photograph offered as an antique!) The owner wouldn't take any
money for the photo. She just wrapped it and said it belonged with me. It
now sits proudly in my dining room on a bookcase that once belonged to
those same grandparents.
