Yes it is a fact (IMO) -- that [geno]phenotypes are so selectable. And,
moreover, they are best seen (provided if not looked at to long and hard
with a view to do cutting edge molecular genetic engeenering) as selectable
*by way of* environmentally exerted selective pressures. Full stop.
[Although it is somewhat beside the point I shall once again plug an
Encompassing 'Evolution-Philosophical' Position To Take. That is, the EPT
(e.g. as in apt) view that _evolutionary_ pressures have been at play to
produce biological organisms throughout phylogeny, and [still further beside
the main point] all the way back to a conceivably 'first fluctuation'
followed by an inflationary astrophysical emergence of particles of
spacetime-matter-energy.]
