    As far as pure multitasking goes. Linux is one of the best at
that job IMHO.

I wouldn't recommend it. It also is distributed on CD(s) which is a form
much easier to deal with. Linux can be purchased from a number of computer
stores. (I.E. CompUSA, Best Buy, Etc). I would check the retailers in your 
area for availability. The most recent version I have came in a 6 CD
package.
