PM> Now, now calm down. Just sit here and I'll tuck this blanket in
PM> around your legs. Now take a deep breath from this oxygen mask.
PM> Isn't that better? I'll just toddle off and get you a nice cup
 PM> of tea, shall I?

You young whippersnapper! :-) You young guys are all tostesterone
and no home alone.

PM> Personally, I don't think PD science fiction will ever take
PM> off. If the books were any good, the author would be making
PM> money out of them. Besides, having a hard disk full of books
PM> just isn't the same as having a shelf full of books.

Yes... I got all excited about the idea of BBS books, but reading
off a screen just isn't the same. I thought it might work as a book
marketing ploy, where you write a chapter or so and offer a $10
paperback by return mail. You can print a good paperback for $3 and
the author could cut out the publisher and distributor and retailer...
but there aren't enough using BBSs yet. Maybe in a few years time.

PM> The Lazarus Long books were the ones I was talking about when I
PM> said that his stuff is crappy. The world certainly doesn't need
 PM> more books like that.

Well... since it's only our second reply I won't insult you yet,
even though your taste is in your bum ;-)

PM> Well, actually the message was to Paul, not you. It just
PM> happened to be *about* you. This is my first message *to* you.

That's no excuse. Everyone knows I read everything.

BL> I don't usually get insulted until the third message.

PM> I find that hard to believe.

Would you believe the third paragraph?

BL> One must keep one's standards (as Prince Charlie said when he
 BL> took up the flag).

PM> And do pennants for one's sins.

Aww... that's terrible! You might not be old, but you can still make
an awful old pun. It wasn't bad, actually .

PM> I have read some of your messages around the place, and I must
 PM> admit, they're very... creative.

He, he, he. I like the choice of word. I like to stir the possum,
but it's much more fun to stir a crocodile. :-)

Regards,
Bob
