subject: Re: LSI SCSI Host Adapter Upgrade - Accomplished

While I'm thinking about it, my LSI21002 and my Trinity S1590 don't play
that well either. Exchanging the 21002 with another 21002, and different
slots and cables, didn't change anything. With my 7200 RPM IBM drives I
have no problem, but with my 10000 RPM Maxtor, I always get serious bus
errors from SCSITOOL.EXE. I had Maxtor replace my 7200 that had the same
problem. It was their decision to replace the 7200 with the 10000. I
discovered the bus problem because Linux refused to complete an install
due to SCSI errors. My LSI8951, 8952 & 8953 hosts don't have the
problem. My guess is the dual channel configuration exposes a defect in
the MVP3 chipset that windoze probably masks with their "4-in-1"
drivers.
