Getting *out* is a different story, though....
I used to have this huge white longhair cat named Joshua. At the time, I had
six cats and took them to the vets in cardboard carriers, one to a cat.
After awhile, the carriers aged somewhat, and a few rips developed here and
there....
On one trip to the vets, Joshua discovered and worked one of those rips till
he escaped the carrier. It took him about 15 minutes (the vet was half an
hour away). For the trip back, I got a brand NEW cardboard carrier and put
him in it. By then, of course, he realized the inherent weakness of
cardboard, and had ripped a hole in the new carrier and was out before we
left the vets parking lot. In fact, his exit hole was quite small.
After that, I got an airline-standard type carrier with a metal gate. I
needed to use it to transport a Lhasa Apso a couple of times, so it was good
sized. He didn't claw his way out of THAT one.
