CT> I'm only posting this message for someone else. CT> Did you call the number? It sounds a bit suspect! PE> I'd be a bit more careful getting involved in illegal activity if I PE> were you. ?^^^^^^^? CT> Yeah I reckon but IS it ILLEGAL? Yes. All the major states have laws against pyramid schemes, this one is a classic. It also contravenes the federal Trade Practices Act, primarily because you didnt make it clear that the person who has that code receives a direct financial benefit whenever anyone is silly enough to call that number. You didnt even make it clear that thats an ISD call, and an expensive one. CT> No one has given me any evidence to actually prove it is. CT> The person whom asked me to post it swears that it is legal! Ring your Consumer Affairs etc and ask them. Have clean underwear handy |-) CT> You may have seen one of my replies to someone else... CT> I called the number from a pay phone but my $3.60 worth CT> of credit ran out before I got the full gist of the story. CT> As per usual it was an American accent on the recording. CT> I don't intend calling the number again. It would be nice to CT> see a transcript of the full message. Maybe if someone reading CT> this knows the full (real) message they might enlighten us? CT> I'll ask the person who wanted it posted if they can CT> provide a transcript... fair enough don't you think?! I think you should drag him in here and we can give him a good kicking |-) CT> Someone once asked if I would like to join in a Illegal Pyramid CT> Scheme (or should I say Scam?). Well I didn't. Within a few weeks CT> the whole thing collapsed. By memory I think you needed about $100 CT> to get in. I asked this person "How did you go?" and she replied "I CT> made $7000". (Not the promised $50000 but still not to be laughed at.) Sure, the main reason they are illegal is that those who get in early can indeed make money. The problem is the ones who get in later and get shafted. CT> If I ever got asked by the same person again to join in one CT> of these 'Illegal' Pyramid schemes my answer would still be NO! CT> If you know for sure that it is ILLEGAL then steer clear! You could also decide that this particular one stinks, even if it isnt illegal. Why should you be encouraging people to call that number, waste their money on ISD calls to the Seychelles just so your mate gets part of that. CT> Anyhow I'll get back to the salt mines and be thankful for what I have. :- Guess it does beat flogging your body on the street corners, atleast you are unlikely to catch some disease calling a phone number, even if it is in the Seychelles |-) --- PQWK202* Origin: afswlw rjfilepwq (3:711/934.2) SEEN-BY: 711/809 934 |
