Hello Wayne -

->> We both knew about fuel fitlers at the time. What I did not
->> know years later was that Oldsmobile had another filter
->> inside the carburetor just after the gasline connection.
->> That one threw me until a racing enthusiast friend asked me
->> if I had ever changed it. :-)

WC>>> Saved a lot of other more labor intensive maintanance.

->> Yes, dirt and/or metal filings in the carburetor would be a
->> 'bad thing'. :-)

WC> Yeah, I'd find all that in my fuel valve trap and float
WC> bowls. Adding the inline filter helped a lot and thereafter
WC> I I'd just removed the fuel valve's bottom to let the water
WC> out, change the inline filter and occassionally run some
WC> ethanol in with a tank of gas.

I've become a 'gentleman' driver these days. Kick the tires,
pump the gas, clean the windshield. If we still had "full service"
gas stations I'd not even be doing that. :-)
