Hi Zoltan, Hi David,
Not all mice are both PS2 and serial capable. Logitech used to make a
range that were. Simply taking a PS/2 mouse and plugging it into a PS/2
to DB9 adapter will ONLY work if the mouse is cabable of both interfaces
as all the cable is doing is using different wires. There is no logic
chips in the cable.
The current Thinkpad's expect the mouse to be plugged into the USB
port. There is no longer a PS2 port on most of them. I think this is
what the manufacturers call "legacy free". I surprised the A22 even has
a serial port, they are often only available when the Thinkpad is in a
docking station. If you have enabled the serial port in CMOS and if you
were to find a real serial mouse, or you are sure the PS2 mouse you have
is "serial capable", check the mouse.sys line in config.sys it needs to
have SERIAL=COM1 added to the end of it to work with serial mice. i.e
DEVICE=C:\OS2\BOOT\MOUSE.SYS SERIAL=COM1
Cheers/2
