IS THERE --ANY-- ELECTRONICS INDUSTRY DOWn_uNder ?
*
Are there any good Australian products out there?
*
At couple of years ago I met this woman at the Taipei Electronics Show
in 1993, and lamented being an Aussie into electronics, and the sorry
state of the Australian Electronics Industry. She turned out to be the
editor of a major electronics industry publishing house in concern.
*
Now she's got me with my foot in my mouth. (Typical Aussie Stance...)
People are asking in Asia, "What is going on Down-Under in
Electronics?" Can we source any components, boards, sub-systems from
Australia? There is nothing on their files. There are some Australian
firms manufacturing off-shore they know of, and that's it.
*
I am gathering material where I can. There isn't much data around.
Any help in even one of the areas mentioned below, is very much
appreciated! Product brochures are much appreciated, details on what
is exported and approximate export $ volume is also much appreciated
if OK. The article is to include contact names, companies, addresses
and TEL/FAX no.s for prospective buyers overseas to contact -- this is
essential. So if you have an informed comment and are willing to put
your name and position to it, please let me know privately by FAX or
Modem by January 21st. Brochures ASAP thanks.

(In a separate issue, we are also trying to find good Australian
Computer hardware and software and electronics products for possible
export to my original employer of 5 years in Tokyo, Japan. As a high
tech trading company, they are now becoming desperate for new, original
products to import and sell in the now over competitive and me-too
computer domestic market in Japan. If you have an already completed
product in the market, that has something innovative or original going
for it. (Should be patented, at least in Australia for a start!) Then
contact us, too. We just new glossy brochures at first, if they feel
the product can be sold, then we can proceed from there. (We also do
Japanese Technical Translation in addition to electronics and chip
design.)
