What do you look for in a headphone? I'm thinking of buying a good
headphone but don't know what to look for. (i.e. whether I should
look for ones with wide frequency range or high power or high impedance
or all of the above).

Don't know with pre-recorded tapes. I don't buy tapes anymore. I just
buy the CD and mix them all into one tape. (which is why I need a deck
that can do the job decently). Why spend $9 for a tape when for $13
you can get the CD ? tapes ultimately break down, but CD could last
a very long time with proper maintenance.
But I'd guess it'd be the same with pre-recorded tapes since most of
the pre-recorded tapes must have been recorded with another tape deck. :)

I'm not sure what you mean by re-alignment. Are you talking about
a physical defect where the head is not placed properly, or are you talking
abstractly ? :)

I've read somewhere that you should never use a cotton swab to clean
the heads (well, unless it was built to clean them, but those swabs that
comes with the cleaning kit are so few).

It uses a battery. In any case, my watch hasn't gone astray yet. :)
(its a ridiculously expensive one so it had better not!).
