I read an article recently that discussed the Hindenburg fire. That article
claimed that the hydrogen gas did NOT cause the fire, nor necessarily even
cause the catastrophe after ignition. They claimed that the airship was
covered with an extremely flammable fabric or something, and there's a
suspicion that a strong static spark from the mooring mast or perhaps
lightning ignited the covering. They quoted eyewitnesses talking about a
"glow" just before the catastropic fire, and explained what that probably was
and why it could not have been the hydrogen. (mainly because a hydrogen flame
is pretty much invisible)
