It's not just the gummint.... I've spent more time than I like today fighting Windows problems (W2k and XP) caused by a requirement (implicit or explicit) for IE. First was with PDF file that wouldn't render in either Acrordr 4 or Ghost, or Acrordr 4 in W2k. Same thing on the W2k partition on my T23 which has Acro 5 rdr. Went to install Acrobat 6 (bloated it is) and the install kept failing. I was accessing the site through Mozilla. Finally tried it with IE and it worked (even set Mozilla to use Acrobat 6 for PDF files). Then was called on to resolve a problem with MacAfee which had expired after the initial free trip on a XP Dell machine. User (a neophyte) was unable to do the upgrade to a year's service. So, walked through the process. Got to a certain point, and it said that I had to be using IE to do the upgrade (when I set the machine up, I specified Mozilla as the default browser, and the McA upgrade invokes a browser). That product rates low in my book for user-friendliness, when it comes to the upgrade/renewal process. Several reboots required, confusing instructions, etc. -- Julian Thomas: jt{at}jt-mj.net http://jt-mj.net In the beautiful Finger Lakes Wine Country of New York State! Warpstock 2005: Hershey, Pa.
