| subject: | RXASYNC - Serial I/O for |
On the 01-18-95, Gary Chambers did converse with Ian Timms:
GC>Easy, Ian. I apologize if you received my message to Jerry
GC>as a personal attack. I did not intentionally convey that
GC>feeling.
I must appologise, things haven't been going too smoothly of late,
and I really should know better than to vent my frustrations here.
GC> IT> Did you even bother to edit the script and make sure the
GC> IT> correct port for your system was being opened?
GC>
GC>Affirmative, sir. Although you have many configurable items, I chose only
GC>to change the default COM4 to my COM2, and the default 19200
GC>to my 57600.
The other item in the settings that I do cover in the new version, but
did not catch in the old one is that of Enhanced mode parameters. If
you have an MCA machine then the test script will attempt to enable
the enhanced mode, this may cause a conflict with other software
not expecting/able to handle this mode.
GC> IT> Tell me what's wrong, what its doing and give me the output
GC> IT> generated by the test script using the following:
GC> IT> RXASYNC 2>&1 >ToTimmsy.txt
GC>
GC>Is this a request or a demand? I will see if I can find
GC>the time to attempt it.
Definitely a request. If you get the chance then I'd be interested
to see the output, I only have one machine (386AT) to develop and
test on, so any failure to run on other hardware obviously is of
great interest.
GC> IT> I also need to know what UART you are accessing, com port,
GC>
GC>I'm using SIO v1.40 (Registered), and a Hayes ESP2 (COM2:57600, 300, NONE).
I know SIO doesm't handle all options that com.sys does but don't
believe this should cause any problems because Ray had wisely chosen
to return appropriate defaults etc. However I have seen a number
of posts claiming problems with ver 1.40, and I must admit the last
version I tested with was only 1.32, now that 1.42 is out it may
pay to upgrade.
GC> IT> Frankly, if you haven't even tried to contact me then you
GC> IT> have no right to slag off RxAsync.
GC>
GC>Again, I did not intentionally "slag off RxAsync."
I'm sure you didn't, again please accept my appologies for being
so abrupt.
Cheers, Ian Timms. [Team OS/2]
