AB>Hew guy, I just found out that people in high school, have been failing
AB>more, and more the last few years. I heard that 14% of the high
AB>school people fail! :~( I just wanted to let you teachers know that
AB>you should help the students out! :)
Most teachers do help students out. The difference in "helping a
student out" and giving them an easy and/or free ride is quite
significant. The 14% figure may be a little off.....I don't know. I
know that in my math classes, it is about right. The ones that fail in
my classes are the ones who choose to fail. I offer after school
tutoring (at the school) free of charge. All a student needs to do is
come to my classroom and ask for the help. Most of the time they don't
even need to ask. If they show up, I usually know what they need/want.
The biggest problem is that they often only want me to "give them some
extra points" rather than extra help.
