subject: Sexing lutino tiel

-> Yes, I got an answer. Any further help on sexing Teils of any colours
-> be appreciated. Thanks.

  With some experience dealing with Lutinos, I have been told that one
can press a finger in pelvic area of the bird and the female will have
a larger space than the male. Of course this would take lots of
experience and practice to be proficient at it. As for me, whenever I
try it, I usually get the you know what bit out of me... The best
and most accurate way is to have your vet do it. If the bird is an
expensive breeder, than that ultimately may be the best way to go.
As far as other colors, males generally have more vivid colors, yellows,
etc. and the female color is less pronounced particularly around the
head. With any bird that is split to pearl, after about 6 months, males
will begin to loose the pearling effect while it does stay pronounced in
females. My Lutino's have been the only ones I've had problem with and
I usually go with the baring under the tale feathers. You can hasten
this process by pull a tail feather rather than waiting for a molt to
take place.  Hope this helps..
