The alternative is that Fidonet becomes full of hateful people and their
behaviors influence others to act similiarly.  Good people become fed up and
leave because of the negative climate.  Life circumstances influenced my last
departure but it was no love lost because the climate was so disappointing at
the time.

The only reason Roy is so fondly revered now is that he jumped on the 'us vs
them' bandwaggon.  He knew any complaint would be thrown out provided he kept
his ill behavior pointed in the right direction.  And, I suspect many were
happy with that arrangement.

No one need lose a node number.  All it would have taken was for the
coordinator stucture to slap his hand once.  Stating that "policy does not
apply to echomail" granting a pass to any behavior in echoomail.  It is too bad
Roy Witt's flame buddies left before 2000 because those who made that statement
would have regretted it.
