I'm on my 2nd re-org in as many years-except this go round, I'm an a
business unit slated for sale, and they need to keep a good chunk of the
staff available to make sure the sale (and subsequent conversion
activities) go cleanly.

That's assuming they can come to terms with any potential buyer-which,
given the current market conditions (its a buyers market in this business
domain, not a sellers) may not give them what they think the business is
worth.
