subject: ParaDise : a new control program for the19:35:0502/18/98

Hi fellow SWL-ers, especially those having also an AR7030
shortwave receiver available.
I developed a new program to control the AR7030 from your PC.
It is based on the ideas earlier implemented in my TURBO535
programs for the NRD-535(D), see file TURBO538.ZIP
However to have maximum freedom for the set-up of the control
program for the AR7030, I started to program from scratch,
using only the good parts of TURBO535.
The program 'ParaDise' (1st Beta version, PD7030B1.ZIP) has
the aim to control the SW receiver AR7030 and to support the
listening activities with:
+ fast and easy setting of the receiver using frequency data
  files
+ extended and fast logging facilities
+ 'tracking mode' to show, on the basis of comparison of
frequency and time data in a database, to which station the
  receiver is tuned
+ analysis and processing of received signal strength
(S-meter) to get insight in use of the band or propagation
  beheaviour
+ direct receiver control
It is a MS Windows-application realised with Visual Basic v4,
proffesional edition. Only a 32 bit version is available, so
you need Windows 95 to run it.
PD7030B1.ZIP can be downloaded from the following sites :
FTP site in Europe ftp://ftp.funet.fi/pub/ham/rigctrl/
FTP site in the USA ftp://ftp.qrz.com/files/hdn/hamequip/
(Or if it is no yet there try /files/tmp/pd7030b1.ziQ)
The zipped file is about 2 Mbyte and you need almost 4.5 MByte
additional free space on your hard disk to install it properly.
From the 4.5 Mbyte about 1 Mbyte is directly related to the
application I developed, the other part consists of Visual
Basic supporting files (*.dll, *.ocx).
After downloading and unpacking the PD7030B1.ZIP file in an
empty directory on your hard disk, for example C:\TEMP, run
the setup program in this directory from your 'Start' menu.
The setup program propose to put the application related files
in the main directory C:\PD7030B1. If you change this you
should after the installation also adapt the first line in the
PD7030B1.INI file to reflect this change.
The documentation file PD7030B1.DOC is a WORD 6 file, but can
also be viewed using the Wordpad program added to W95.
As this is the first beta version I am interested in getting a
lot of feedback to guide me in the further development. So if
you have any questions, suggestion or comments, let it be known
that you always can reach me at the following E-mail addresses :
