CH> Apperently, the stock Win95 Sound recorder has a 1 minute limit,
CH> according to those in the Win95 echo.
Ah! Yeah, that's right. It's really not intended for music, just for
short sound-bites to use for system events and such. It isn't even
capable of stereo, as I recall.
RM>> ..you can't multi-task when you're burning a CD, in any case.
CH> Too resource intensive?
You might say that. Just about anything that accesses the hard drive will
ruin your recording, including screen-savers and virus-checkers.
re: HyCD OEM version
CH> How much extra do they dupe ya for the "full" version? :-)
$69.95, I believe.
RM>> ..sound quality and compatibility are identical between IDE and SCSI

CH> Overall time isn't a concern here. :)
Then an IDE burner would serve you well, I reckon.
RM>> .."test- before-write" option..
CH> Interesting, like the DOS "VERIFY" command...
Exactly!
CH> I'd want 100% reliablity.
Right. If I'm gonna do it, I want to do a good job of it.
RM>> And 8x burners are expen$ive!
CH> Overall, the prices are coming down.
Oh yeah, the 4x and below IDE burners are very reasonable. But an 8x
SCSI burner will set you back a grand or so.. and no one discounts them
to any degree.
CH> What "audible" effects do under-runs create?
It's like you took an analog tape and clipped an inch or two out, then
spliced it back together
RM>> Anyway, let me know if & when you get a CD-R, I'd be most

CH> Will do. I wonder if anyone is doing this stuff inder OS/2?
Errr.. there's probably something out there.. But methinks you'll have
to look long and hard to find it!
