Hello Dieter,
DM> During my brief absence, a gremlin has snuck into my PC, rendering
DM> my WfWG install useless. Not that it was that great to start
DM> with, but it worked. Most of the time. Until now, that is.
DM> When I boot WfWG, the program manager starts, but there are no
DM> program groups, and there is an error, "Progman - An error has
DM> occurred" If I select close at that point, I get "Application
DM> Error - Progman caused GPF at loc ....."
DM> If I choose Ignore, I get "Cannot open group file '%s'. Do you
DM> want Program Manager to try an load this in future? ". This
DM> occurs ad nauseam.
DM> I have reinstalled WfWG, to no avail - the same error occurs. It
DM> may yet be a case of deltree windows.
DM> In that case, what files would I need to keep to retain things
DM> like video and sound card drivers and settings - win.ini ?
DM> system.ini ? It's a PITA restoring all those sound card and other
DM> settings and drivers - a pain that I wish to avoid, if possible.
You've screwed up one or more or your INI files. If you get lucky, you may
be able to find an old INI, do a dir system.* win.* etc...
A windows reload only copies over the code part, it leaves the ini's intact.
This is a problem when the ini files are the ones causing the problem.
