I would encourage everyone interested in overseas - and by default Australian - stock markets to watch the following SBS TV programs, they are produced by the US PBS networks. NBR - The Nightly Business Report - is screened Tues-Sat at 11:30am. It gives an EXCELLENT run down on the day's NYSE. It also provides information and background on company activities which days later may appear in the Financial Review or on the general news. Everyone should be taping it daily and watching it later, if you can't see it when it's broadcast. The McNeil/Lehrer News Hour - is broadcast at 5:05pm Tues-Fri (why not Saturdays too SBS TV??? - conflicts with sport etc eh???) the news summaries and in depth analysis of US and world politics and the economy is far superior to anything Australian TV offers. Again, you should tape it if can't see it when it's broadcast. In summary, anyone at all interested in the markets should become a regular watcher of these superb programs. I'd be interested to know how many of you are already tuning in. In any case if you're not yet a viewer, have a look at them and post me your views. If you do like the programs too, why not give SBS TV a call and encourage them to keep on showing them. It is a pity that Australia cannot produce home grown value plus programs like this for our domestic market. Frankly, Business Sunday and the Bottom Line are watched simply because there are no better programs available. Both are however, a bit of a down market joke for those who seriously observe and want to know more about the stock market in particular. What say you all? --- FMail 0.94* Origin: SBA Business BBS !
