Yes, but it is a currency *inseparable* from their biological context which
is *the respective phenotypes* these surviving copies code for.

As far as I can see no reproducible genes exist in isolation. (Not even in
these days of in vitro manipulation of and messing with of the process of
reproduction.)

And, for this reason (a reason Edser ought to, but most likely won't, be
contented with), the individual organisms (geno/phenotypes) are the
coal-faces at which the (Darwinian) "struggle for survival" *against*
Adverse and *with* Opportune _type_ selective pressures (a dichotomy with a
dialectic flavor) is taking place.
