We occasionally handfeed finch chicks here, Jan, but only out of
necessity. Although we've raised some as young as day 1 by handfeeding
(mostly Cordon Bleus) we typically haven't had to take over until the babies
were a bit older and closer to weaning. It isn't as difficult as most people
imagine as finches have the same feeding responses as hookbill babies but
they are easy to aspirate.
