I've been hiking a couple of times in the north. Once we were in Nordkapp,
which is the northernmost point in all of Europe, it's really awesome
place. Nothing grows in the last couple of hundred kilometers, and the cold
sea gives it a very dramatic feeling. Then, right at the furthest point
there's a statue on a cliff with 400 meter drop to the sea (that's
something like 1200 feet)... and a gift shop... and a *disco*! That was a
bit too much even for me, blech.
