So yesterday I went and picked up a couple of computer systems, and a couple of boxes of "cables and other stuff", which turned out to contain some rather interesting stuff... The computers are an H-P and a Compaq, and I haven't opened them up yet or fired them up to see what's in them, no idea yet. I have a Dell box sitting here too that I need to figure out, and that's not gonna happen till after I get this "test fixture" out of the way, where I'm testing some SCSI drives... Anyhow, I also got another flatbed scanner, and a little bitty one that seems to be some kind of a "photo" scanner? Got a USR modem, I think it's a 56K sportster. And a couple of other things that I'm wondering about, maybe you guys can shed some light on them. One is a little box, with wall-wart, labeled H-P "JetDirect EX Plus" which seems to have a DB25 on the back (labeled "printer"), a BNC connector, and a RJ45 connector -- I'm guessing this is something that lets you connect a printer directly to a LAN? Some sort of a sticker on the top giving an IP address of 192.168.7.3, I wonder if it's possible to change that? Then there's a 3Com "OfficeConnect 56K Lan Modem", no wall wart with it or at least not attached, but I got several in the pile and could probably find one to work. Two phone jacks and four RJ45 connectors on the back and I'm wondering if I could use this as just a hub, maybe. Another gizmo sort of reminds me of the charger stand for a cell phone, the label says "SUPRA eSYNC Cradle". There's a pair of phone jacks on the bottom, a wire coming out with both a DB9 and a coaxial power connector on it, and some sort of a cradle with a row of gold-colored contacts on it, along with a button on the front. The bag contains a phone wire and a wall wart still in a box and a DB9 to DB25 adapter. Anybody know what's supposed to plug in here? That little baby scanner is labeled "PRTEC SCANROM 4E / Photo" on the nameplate, and has an un-labeled wall wart connector for power, and a pair of DB25 connectors marked "computer" and "printer" so I guess that's parallel interfaced. The big flatbed scanner is interesting too, it has both 50-pin and 25-pin SCSI connectors on the back, and a DB15 (mini, like VGA) connector that says something about "transparency", presumably for some sort of an accessory that I don't have. It's a "Relisys", a brand I'm not familiar with offhand. Any of you guys familiar with this sort of stuff? ---* Origin: TANSTAAFL BBS 717-838-8539 (1:270/615) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 270/615 150/220 3613/1275 123/500 106/2000 633/267 |
