I owned a '67 Catalina one time that was fairly high compression -- 10:1 if
I remember right.  That thing not only needed high test but was fussy about
which brand you put into it,  too.  The wrong brand and you'd lose power, 
lots of it.

OTOH,  with the right gas,  you had to be *real* careful about pressing
down on that gas pedal,  or it'd just sit there spinning the wheels...
