  I'm in complete agreement about the concrete perch cleaning problem.
My birds love to use it to clean their beaks, so it gets really grungy
in all those depressions.  What I do to clean it is stick it in the
sink, wet it, then come back in a few minutes and brush all the gunk off
with an old toothbrush.  Works pretty well and doesn't damage the
texture of the perch.
