Different voicing... there are some differences in the tone stack.
Check out Dave Cigna's Tonelite program.  It's got schematics of the 
Marshall, Fender, and AC30 tone stacks, and plots the frequency response.  
You can set the bass, treble, and middle tone sliders where you like, do a 
plot, change them, and overlay the new plot on the old one.
You can ALSO modify the values of the resistors and caps in the stack and 
plot that too.
