Look really seriously at the Personal Animation Recorder (PAR), advertised 
everywhere that talks about digital video. Does _nice_ quality for about $4k 
including video in and out and enough drive space for 20-30 minutes of 
digital video. Add Razor Pro for editing, and you'll have a decent system 
that'll fit in an IBM type machine and do a lot of neat stuff.
