Glad to read of the full capabilities on the LSI controllers - good job
I pushed you to it!
Using the selective scanning of the buss means that you could have
drives fitted that you didn't want accessed in the normal course of
events - dedicated to infrequent master backups/images etc., and thus
not visible to any operating system running - but easily re-enabled at
boot-time, same as Adaptec.
