If one were to install an 80-conductor IDE ribbon cable (rated for UDMA/133,
which I did) on a system that only supports up to UDMA/33 (66 & above *need*
the 80c cable) should I expect any improvement in transfers, even sutle ones?

Things sure seem spiffier since I upgraded the cables from 40 to 80, and I'm at
a loss to explain why ...
