Yoo Hoo to Everyone!
We returned from our week in Disneyworld and I'll let you all know we enjoyed
it thoroughly! It wasn't always easy to merge three families into one, but
we managed to find a happy medium there at the happiest place in the world!
Some impressions follows:
Went to the new Disney Boardwalk resort. I was impressed! We didn't make
reservations to eat at Spoodles, but we should have! We did have coffee and
pastries and we walked around their boardwalk. For a change of pace from our
'laid-back' Old Key West resort, it was really nice to go to the Boardwalk!
More so than at other resorts, there were more activities, shops and places
to eat. Next time we go back, we plan to eat at Spoodles and make it an
evening at the Boardwalk.
At Future World, the Universe of Energy pavilion was completely revamped and
now the dinosaurs are MUCH more interesting! There was also a new pre-show
with 'Ellen' of tv fame based on the Jeopardy gameshow, but I won't say
anything more to spoil your enjoyment.
At Fantasyland, I couldn't tell what was going on with 20,000 Leagues Under
The Sea, but they were using the old waiting area for character pictures. By
the way, characters are more of a hit there with more character meals and
events!
At Tomorrowland, I thought they improved Alien Encounter a bit, but not sure
if it was just my imagination...
The Big 25th Anniversary bash going-on down there adds an extra element to
being there. For one thing, you can get your souvenir 'badge' with the first
date you were there. Also, we picked up a commemorative poster (can be
framed) honoring the 25 years of Magic Kingdom. By Wednesday, the day before
Thanksgiving, it was obvious that the parks were all shifting into their
Christmas lights display! We got to see the Osborne Family Lights at the
Studios. It'll knock you off your feet--quite unbelievable! The Backlot Tour
stops early so people can then walk through the backlot neighborhood. By the
way, I got to be a 'star' in the backlot action water program! I was the
skipper and even though I was thoroughly splashed with water, I didn't get
wet at all! Yet, I was glad I wasn't doing it in hot weather as wearing the
yellow raingear was hot enough!
With Thanksgiving Day came the crowd and it became harder to get around or
through the lines, but that was ok since they had more special events going
on. We got to see their Christmas Candlelight Procession program which had a
400-voice choir and orchestra for a retelling of the Christmas Story from
Luke. Dr. Buzz Aldin (former astronaut) read the story between all the
traditional carols and the Hallelujah chorus. Very good show!
Well, I could go on and on, but I'll answer any questions if you have them.
It was a terrific time to go and now I'm ready to go back!
