I did manage to get 0.49 compiled on my slackware box but it took about an
hour of searching and trying things out. I ultimately applied those debian
patches and was able to get it compiled (and packaged). I think it was a
simple change to the makefile for newer versions of gcc that got it done.
Thankfully 0.50 compiles out of the box. :)
I'm a little uncomfortable with 0.50 because the author hasn't released it.
Maybe it just needs some testing.
