I will butt in here because I flew many of the early missions
carrying Nuclear weapons over Canada. None were ever lost or
dropped on any mission there. We flew a 24 hour airborne alert
system code nammed "Chrome Dome" which yo-yo-ed North and south
 over Canada.
In fact one of the first missions got lost and had to be escorted
back by CF-100s... Later missions went around all of North America.
One B-52 lost four Mark 28s of the runway at Thule Air Base but NO
EXPLOSION. One lost four off Spain which was an extremely hard
recovery. None had even a High Explosive detonation. Even with
a high explosive detonation, you can not have a nuclear detonation
by accident.... All I can say as this is unclassified information
 available to all.
I flew more than 50 of these missions and was airborne the
day Kennedy laid down the law to Krushev on the Cuban missiles.
We had 1250 B-47s, 650 B-52s with over 80 of them airborne and
 our missiles...
I have seen lots of your country from the air on these
 missions......
