Daylight status quo for me is to approach from the passenger side (remember,
this is generally a semi) and motion the driver out of the cab and onto the
shoulder, right front of the truck.
Night is basically the same, except the scenario changes by using the flood
light on the drivers side to blind the driver, exit the patrol vehicle and
circle around the rear to avoid breaking the spotlight beam, and jump up on
the
step and check the driver in the passenger window.
Average Joe Citizen is no problem. I've long since learned the necessary
chatter to bring them to ease. The people trying to hide things are
relatively
easy to spot and I take precautions as required.
