| subject: | looking for routine to generate completely unique filenames |
Dag Erik,
Erik Huelsmann asked all:
EH> Is there anyone out there who has a routine to generate completely unique
EH> filenames??
void tijdelijke_naam(naam)
char *naam;
{
/* naam is the resulting unique name of the file */
time_t hoe_laat;
struct tm *tijd_info;
time(&hoe_laat);
tijd_info = localtime(&hoe_laat);
sprintf(naam,"%02d_%02d_%02d.%03d", tijd_info->tm_hour,
tijd_info->tm_min,
tijd_info->tm_sec, tijd_info->tm_yday);
return ;
}
I never succeeded to generated two identical names. It should be remarked,
that when a name is generated, the corresponding file must be opened,
leading to substantial delay.

Henk
