| subject: | Gas Prices vs. Mileage |
JH>I don't take many long trips, mostly local but not much stop and go JH>in heavy traffic. I was thinking if I'm averaging 20mpg now, and could JH>get 21.0 or better with the higher octane with my type driving of it, JH>I'd be doing OK. JH>I'm surprised I haven't seen any articles about this situation. My JH>question- might I be able to get more than 5% mileage increase if I JH>start running the high-test? Only under exteremly circumstances will you get better gas miledge with the higher octane gas. What ever the Menfacturer recomends for the car is the Best it can effecently use. Any thing more is only Wasting your Money. Rembember the manfacturers are under MANDITORY average miledge controls and to meet those they set each model up fro it's optimal miledge. IF bumping up the recommended Octane would increase the miledge only 1% let me assure that that would be their recomendation. --- þ SLMR 2.1a þ This note from El Cajon California USA* Origin: Try Our Web Based QWK: DOCSPLACE.ORG (1:123/140) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 123/140 500 106/2000 633/267 |
