D&GB> I have a Supra Fax Modem...33.6. My technical knowledge is extremely
D&GB> limited, so bear with me here. My best connect speed is 28000. The
D&GB> general connect speed I get is either 24000 or 26400. Is this due to
D&GB> improper set up or is it the phone lines? We have a dedicated phone
D&GB> line. Our ISP tells us that their server can run 33.6, but I've never
D&GB> seen it. Another question: does the modem speed depend on the phone
D&GB> lines or the server you connect to? Any ideas or information to help
me
D&GB> understand this better is appreciated. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
In my experience, the speed is very dependent on the line quality. Anything
from 26400 up is a pretty good connection. You shouldn't be seeing anything
lower than that when connected to another 33.6 modem, but I don't think you
shouldt expect to see very many true 33.6 connects.
