We used to use 2, slightly less dangerous, particular demos to  
get the message across to our "trainees".
1.  A mannequin's head complete with hair, onto which we poured a  
small whiskey tot of 70% H2O2.  Instant & fairly impressive  
blaze.
2.  A wrench, recently used in an oily situation but wiped  
"clean".  Threw that into a container with approx half a pint of  
that 70%.  That made a nice wee bang ;)
