Hello Paul,

JT> I've had a quick look at it. Why don't you work with the guys who are
 JT> working on FreeDOS?

 PE> I did contact them.

JT> Most of that is done, and it serves the same purpose
JT> you are intending, except I *think* their code is GNU, not public domain.

PE> And that is exactly right. I explicitly said I wanted to be part of
PE> Freedos if it was public domain, but they said it was going to be Gnu
 PE> Virus Licenced.

JT> Same shit different smell as they say. It's still free.

PE> If it was the same shit, they would be happy to make it PD. They're
 PE> not. Hence PDOS.

GNU is free for the end user, but it can't be used to make a commercial
procuct, is that right?
Whereas, public domain is just that, do whatever you like however you like.

PE> BTW, is there ANY genuine PD operating systems in the world?
PE> I think FreeBSD might be half-PD. What about CPM?

I don't know about FreeBSD, many of that type of thing is GNU, as I think they
want to ensure it remains free regardless of who gets their hands on it.

CPM is still commercial I think. Outdated back in the dark ages maybe, but
still commercial. I don't know if they made it PD though.
