So what, are you trying to tell me and the rest of the known world that Wildcat
is a non-standard BBS package? Come to think of it, I think PCBoard uses the
same quoting style.

Again, I have to blame this on the software.
Probably a Wildcat! 4.2 thing. Again, software that is not being developed
anymore, so why worry about it?
